The UK’s highest business honour recognises the organisation’s global mission to repurpose surplus office furniture and equipment for schools and communities in need.

Waste to Wonder Worldwide, the certified social enterprise and registered charity dedicated to eliminating office furniture waste while empowering disadvantaged communities worldwide, today announces that it has been honoured with the King’s Award for Enterprise in the Sustainable Development category for 2026.

The Award, presented by His Majesty The King on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, is the most prestigious business accolade in the United Kingdom.

Michael Amos of Waste to Wonder Worldwide said: "This is a truly humbling moment for everyone at Waste to Wonder Worldwide. The King’s Award is a recognition not just of our team’s tireless dedication, but of the power of an idea, that one company’s waste can become another community’s opportunity.

"None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our clients and partners, who share our belief that business can and should, be a force for good in the world. We are incredibly proud and inspired to keep pushing boundaries, there are so many more young people to support and lift out of poverty through education."

The King’s Award for Enterprise is a globally recognised mark of excellence, awarded annually to UK businesses that demonstrate outstanding achievement in international trade, innovation, sustainable development or promoting opportunity. Recipients may use the King’s Award Emblem for five years, and the Award brings with it enhanced credibility, visibility and access to new markets and opportunities.

Waste to Wonder Worldwide’s Award is in recognition of its sustained commitment to sustainable development, demonstrating that environmental, social and economic goals are not competing priorities, but mutually reinforcing ones.

Founded over 20 years ago with a single purpose, reducing the volume of serviceable office furniture going to waste, Waste to Wonder Worldwide has grown into a globally recognised force for change. To date, the organisation has donated over £50 million worth of furniture and equipment to schools, hospitals, orphanages and communities across the world through its flagship School in a Box initiative.

On average, 97% of all items collected are reused, just 3% are recycled, and nothing is sent to landfill. The organisation’s ethical clearance service has been independently verified as being better than carbon neutral, earning Platinum certification from carbon management specialists Neutral Carbon Zone, a level created specifically for Waste to Wonder as the first organisation in the world to exceed expectations at that level.

Since its establishment, Waste to Wonder has supported more than 1,700 schools across 50 countries, partnering with more than 200 blue-chip companies to prevent millions of kilograms of CO2e from entering the atmosphere.
