The workplace and facilities profession is evolving at pace. From technology to sustainability, and the changing nature of how we work, our sector is right at the centre of it all. My focus as Chair is to make sure IWFM stays ahead of these changes by remaining relevant, supportive and connected to the people we serve.
A positive place to build from
Thanks to the collective efforts of the board, the executive team and our wider community, IWFM is in a positive commercial position. That creates more space to look ahead, focus on what matters most to our members and make thoughtful progress on the things that will shape our future.
Putting members at the centre
Everything we do at IWFM starts with our members. I want everyone involved to feel genuinely valued, whether they are just beginning their WFM journey or have been shaping the profession for years. This is about creating opportunities to learn, connect and grow, as well as building a culture where feedback and involvement are welcomed and encouraged.
We will continue to strengthen our links with corporate partners and organisations across the sector, ensuring IWFM is seen as the trusted home of professional development in workplace and facilities management. That position of trust allows us to advocate far more widely for a skilled, professional WFM sector with a leading role to play in building sustainable, future-proof workplaces – both in the UK and around the world.
Leading with inclusion and intent
Our sector thrives when it reflects the full diversity of the society we live in. One of my personal goals is to ensure that inclusion is not just a conversation, but a lived reality across everything IWFM does. That means opening up access, championing diverse talent, and building clear routes for people from all backgrounds to step into leadership roles.
Celebrating people and creating community
We have so many inspiring individuals and stories within our network. One of the most rewarding parts of my role will be helping to bring these stories to the surface and creating more ways for our community to come together. That includes giving volunteers a bigger voice, inviting younger professionals to take part in new initiatives, and finding new ways to connect members with the work of the board.
Above all, I want IWFM to feel like a place where people belong. A place that supports their ambitions, celebrates their successes and responds to their needs. I have been part of this community for over a decade, and I care deeply about what we do next.
Together, I believe we can take IWFM to an even stronger place. I am excited for what lies ahead, and proud to be part of the journey.
