Cleanology Wins Living Wage Foundation Champion Award as Fair Pay Continues to Shape the FM Sector

Written by Karyee Lee | Jul 9 2026

Facilities management company Cleanology has been recognised at the Living Wage Foundation Champion Awards 2026, taking home the Recognised Service Provider Champion Award in recognition of its commitment to paying the Real Living Wage and championing fair pay across its workforce and supply chain.

Announced at a ceremony held at Church House Westminster, the annual awards celebrate employers and individuals helping to advance the Living Wage movement across the UK. Cleanology's award recognises its role as an accredited service provider and its ongoing efforts to ensure employees are paid a wage that reflects the real cost of living.

In announcing the achievement, Cleanology said the award was about more than receiving a trophy. "For us, this isn't just about a trophy, it's about making sure as many people as possible earn a Real Living Wage that reflects the true cost of living," the company shared following the ceremony.

The recognition comes at a time when workforce recruitment, retention and employee wellbeing remain high on the agenda across the facilities management industry. As organisations continue to face skills shortages and increasing expectations around ESG and social value, fair pay is becoming an increasingly important part of attracting and retaining frontline talent.

Unlike the Government's National Living Wage, the Real Living Wage is independently calculated by the Living Wage Foundation based on the actual cost of living. More than 16,000 UK employers have now committed to paying it, with many organisations viewing accreditation as part of their wider people and sustainability strategies.

For workplace and facilities professionals, the award also highlights the growing recognition of the people who keep buildings operating every day. From cleaning and maintenance to security and support services, frontline FM teams play a vital role in creating safe, welcoming and productive workplaces.

As the role of facilities management continues to evolve, organisations are increasingly recognising that investment in workplace experience goes beyond buildings and technology. Supporting the people delivering essential services remains just as important in creating workplaces where both employees and businesses can thrive.

Cleanology's latest award is a reminder that while innovation continues to shape the future of FM, people remain at the heart of the profession.
