How did you get into the workplace and FM industry?
It was by chance! After 26 long years working in the catering trade, I needed to find a different path. By chance I met up with Waste to Wonder to discuss a possible career move and fell in love with the inspiring work that was happening by ethically changing the concept of waste and helping underprivileged communities around the world. 10 years later the feeling is even more powerful, I’m a great believer in fate and this definitely was the case!
What does it mean to you to be recognised as a Workplace Leaders Top 50?
I’m so proud to be apart of an inspiring group of top performers and game changers, I’m also privileged to be surrounded by a fantastic team who actually drive me to go above and beyond.
What is your favourite part of being in the workplace industry?
No week is the same, I love how we can be in a 30 story building one day and then a 10 person office the next whether it’s in the UK, Europe or North America, I like the variations and the challenges this brings.
Tell us an interesting fact that no one knows about you?
I actually won a dance competition in my teens but that’s top secret.
If you weren’t working in the workplace or FM industry, what would you be doing?
I think I would be more involved with global educational and community initiatives, especially with the cookery school programs teaching life skills and developing communities, but that’s part of my role now so I’m very lucky.
What does it take to be a workplace leader?
Commitment, dedication and understanding team values. I have a saying, you can only do what’s in front of you , problems are for solving and not to be seen as a barrier !! Step outside the box and you’ll always see the best results.
