How did you get into the workplace and FM industry?
By chance, I suffered an injury which resulted into a career change , through a support group called the shaw trust I completed my NEBOSH certificate and secured a volunteering role as an H&S technician which resulted in full time employment.
I then moved into compliance management role on a government estate, progressed up the tiers into senior roles and more strategic leadership.
What does it mean to you to be recognised as a Workplace Leaders Top 50?
Knowing the team have progressed under my leadership style, resulting in this nomination and subsequent award, makes me smile, giving a sense of contentment.
What is your favourite part of being in the workplace industry?
Delivering change, mentoring and nurturing growth in people from a multitude of backgrounds
Tell us an interesting fact that no one knows about you?
I once walked Hadrian’s wall for the NSPCC - 72 miles!
If you weren’t working in the workplace or FM industry, what would you be doing?
Not sure, I've always had a passion for numbers so maybe accountancy!
What does it take to be a workplace leader?
Clear vision, with a passion for change and solution bias approach.
Ability to understand people, demonstrating humility, empathy, and integrity, whilst welcoming self-reflection, and the more obvious one is resilience in an ever demanding, changing environment.
